Change-in Education in collaboration with Foreign and Commonwealth Office, United Kingdom and British High Commission, Islamabad as part of Projecting British Muslims programme, organized a seminar and dialogue on Community, Islam and Youth Engagement in mainstream Britain. The seminar took place at Mirpur, AJK and discussed the experiences of Muslim youth in British and Pakistani societies and the issues faced by them in today’s world. The seminar was attended by notable stakeholders, government officials, educationists, dignitaries, intellectuals and second secretary British High Commission. The ceremony was also graced by a delegation of youth from Britain along with huge population of local youth. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Mishaal Sehgal said; “I believe youth is the untapped resource that needs to be utilized in the 21st century and this driving force will be responsible for growth and development of Pakistan and its people. An empowered youth together can single handedly change the picture of this region as I welcome you all to rise and unlock the potential each one of you have for the benefit of our country.”

Change-in Education (CIE) in collaboration with Roots School System (RSS) organized a remarkable and fascinating Robotics Event at Government Girls Primary School (G.G.P.S) Kalyal on 18th May 2012. The school has been adopted by CIE under its “Adopt a School Program” which is a Public-Private Partnership Initiative by the organization thus strategically expanding and ensuring equitable access of quality education and improving learning outcomes in Pakistan.

The event was a huge success that helped brought smiles and joy on the faces of the underprivileged students. By means of this activity, the students of primary grades of the public school were practically taught and demonstrated ways to generate electricity by using solar energy. The students were divided into clusters and performed this task which not only gave them awareness about the latest trends in technology and academics but also instilled in them the art and skill of teamwork.

By means of various gadgets such as photonic plate, conductors, semi-conductors etc, the children made cars and cranes that used solar energy to move and carry load. The students were also told about alternative ways such as batteries that can be used to generate electricity in the absence of sunlight. At the end of the event, the students of the entire school gathered in the playground to witness how these machines and gadgets work amid huge rounds of applause, bright eyes and smiling faces. The students and staff of the public school were very grateful to CIE for coming over and giving the students such opportunity and exposure to modern world academics and technological advances. They also requested Team CIE to carry out such activities and events in the future as well.

Faisal Mushtaq, founder and CEO Change – in Education who believes in taking various initiatives towards the development and prosperity of the country was a key speaker at the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) Convention on 14th , January 2012. He addressed the audience on the theme of “21st Century Sindh – Challenges and Choices”. Expressing his views about the problems faced by the people of Sindh and finding solutions to them, Faisal Mushtaq said that the teachers lacked capacity and the government falls short of commitment.

In his words “Sindh is not only of the Sindhis but it is also of the settlers-You need to improve literacy in Sindh if you want to be proud of being a Sindhi. The government is rich enough to pay thousands of teachers but where is the commitment, passion and sincerity? We must encourage public-private partnership.”

Change – in Education organized “Education Stakeholders Conference” on Wednesday 28th March 2012. This one day conference attracted over 200 delegates Nationwide. The guests included representatives from some of the world’s leading multinationals, educational speakers, academics, intellectuals, legendary academics and progressive thinkers Nationwide.

By this conference we created awareness among all that together we are destined to make a change. We believe for a noble cause it is important to go together so that one may accomplish more and that too efficiently. With mutual collaboration towards a common goal, even the toughest of the challenges are doable, promoting the concept of teamwork – it is the positive, work oriented and matching wavelength of those responsible that takes a plan forward. It is the responsibility of every individual and organization in an area to join hands so that the affected civilization is given back some share of the fruits that ripe and basic needs of the poor are catered. It is imperative to give away the basic necessities including the standardized education and health to not only our family but to the needy populace on the vicinity. Conference focused on profound soul searching and attainment of success through collaborative bond. The ability to work together towards a common vision: the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. The only dilemma of our home land of pure is the lack of togetherness and common vision. We all are and want to be successful individuals but as a nation we have disappointed each other. We as the educationists, learners, entrepreneurs, teachers, educators and reformers have a huge responsibility. Shared Vision creates a shared image of “our future”. Each one of us has a role in the support of education Improvement, but it is effective teamwork that bonds and that so pulls the nation together and instills a cohesive and collaborative spirit.

Following the NEC approval of Planning Commission’s growth framework, an international roundtable discussion was held in collaboration with UNDP to have an inclusive session with parliamentarians, academia, professionals, business community and the civil society to chalk out an implementation for reforms approved under NGF. The roundtable was attended by global experts from United States, Malaysia, France, Indonesia, China, Singapore etc. Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq, the pioneer of Change – In Education was a key speaker in the UNDP International Roundtable discussion on 14th July 2011. He addressed the audience on the theme of “Youth and Community Engagement” In his view the poor quality of education has resulted in polarized education systems, disconnected and producing two different types of individuals. Moreover, youth appears to lack entrepreneurship skills. If properly engaged, our youth can contribute to both the economic and social development. This is only possible through provision of quality basic and college education, market led skills development, instituting National Youth Service Policy Reforms, redesigning and rezoning cities to create space for youth, promoting nano- and micro-youth enterprises at local level through targeted youth entrepreneurship programs in major civic centers, promoting youth citizenship through civic engagement, promotion and continuum of youth sports and activities that encourage and support the development of active and engaged young people, National Youth Volunteer Services, programs to foster youth reproductive and general health, and establishment of Youth Service Learning Program with the help of educational institutions and civil society that integrates community and social service with academics.

Change-in Education team sponsored and attended the Youth Leadership Conference that took place in Islamabad on 22nd January, 2012. The seminar titled ‘Reinvent Yourself’ addressed the concerns and issues faced by the youth of Pakistan today and stressed the importance of having adequate representation of the youth in Senate and National Assembly. Prominent people from the government, renowned professionals and youth from all over the country participated in the training. Founder and CEO Change-in Education Faisal Mushtaq gave a truly inspirational and motivational speech on the occasion aimed at providing support and equipping the youth with leadership qualities.

Change-in Education in collaboration with Roots School System and Gogi Studios organized “Champions of Change.” The event aimed at bringing together the children of Roots School System and Government Girls Primary School Kalyal, an adopted school of CIE thus bridging the private and public sector divide. The event which was both a learning and entertainment opportunity led the children interact with one another, inculcate the skills and feelings of Sharing and Caring, share their experiences and helped everyone understand the plight and difficulties of the underprivileged and less fortunate.

Continuing with its legacy for support and promotion of young talent in Pakistan, Change-in Education honoured the achievements of the winner of the first National Peace Award, Malala Yousafzai. Speaking at the 6th Annual Teacher Development Conference 2012, organized by CIE in collaboration with RNITTE, Malala Yousafzai shared her journey of student life and talked about her courageous and outstanding services for the promotion of peace in Swat.

Ms. Malala Yousafzai left all the audience mesmerized and hypnotized with her words. Many of the delegates were deeply touched at heart and had teary eyes. Founder and CEO Change-in Education, Faisal Mushtaq, inspired by Malala’s speech honoured her with education scholarship and said: “ This courageous young girl met the restrictions of the defiance and firm resolution and proved her mettle by refusing to remain illiterate and helping her peers acquire it too”.
